Dyar Leffingwell Store AdA display ad, circa 1900, lists the general merchandise available at Dyar Leffingwell's store at 12 East St. The main building and the attached small building, which was at one time the post office, later the Town library and the Cat's Eye shop in the 1970s, survived the 1920 fire that destroyed the buildings to the west.

She and her husband Sydney, along with her in-laws, George and Edna (Stoddard) Adams, ran a boarding house and funeral parlor in the building and a 50-acre farm. Sidney was also a mail carrier and ran the Middletown and Poultney Stage. He later was a cheesemaker for one of the two cheese companies in town.

Middletown Four CornersMiddletown Four Corners is the main intersection in Middletown Springs where North, South, East and West Streets meet. In a 1920s photo, across from the town green is Larrow's Arrowhead Store, which features a gasoline pump.
