Mineral Springs Park Photo Album
The Mineral Springs Park was created on land along the Poultney River and North Brook that had been part of the Montvert Hotel resort from 1870-1905. These historic and contemporary photos show how visitors and community members have enjoyed the park for decades.

Village Schoolhouse, Circa 1895The village schoolhouse was used from c. 1880 until completion of the current Middletown Springs elementary school building in 1905. Women and Children Pose at Mineral SpringsThree generations pose at the Spring House, circa 1895. Grandmother and mother sit with their hats off. A teen-aged daughter looks on while young son offers his mother a glass of spring water. They could be Montvert Hotel guests or a local family sitting for a portrait. Dana Carpenter photograph.

Young Man Poses at Mineral SpringsPhotographer Dana Carpenter apparently liked this spot near the foot bridge from the Mineral Springs Park to the Montvert Hotel for shooting portraits in the mid-1890s. Here, a young man, who may be a local or a guest at the hotel, adopts a casual posture for what may be a typically long exposure for this glass-plate negative image.
